Collectively titled beginnings and endings, exhibition with Elissa Cox and Tannaz Farsi was installed at Gallery 621 in Tallahassee, FL. The work Tenacity in this three-person exhibition, inquires about the geometric structures of the body. Using one-eight inch diameter dowels, Tenacity draws out an impression of frail endurance, depicting a construction of uniformed lines that meet in the center and span outward in a circular pattern. Stained with red pigment and curved into an arch, each wooden dowel is attached directly to the wall. When observed from different viewpoints, the three-dimensional aspect of this piece transforms, becoming a line drawing from the frontal view, magically hovering over the wall from the side view, and upon closer inspection, protruding in and out of the wall. |
